If you have out of network benefits/coverage, then you may be eligible to receive direct reimbursement payments from your insurance provider after paying for services upfront. Clients are responsible for payment of the session fee at the time of services. We do not bill insurance directly (at the time of services) and are not "in-network providers" with any insurance companies. HFT therapists are out-of-network providers. HFT offers client insurance reimbursement support through Reimbursify. Existing HFT clients with out-of-network benefits can quickly and easily file claims for reimbursement (one at a time, or several together) and receive ongoing follow-up support from Reimbursify's experienced team. It is the client's responsibility to confirm out-of-network benefits with their insurance provider and understand their specific coverage. The rates for therapy sessions are listed below. Typically therapy sessions are 50 minutes. Longer sessions are available upon request depending on availability. Office hours are: 10am - 6pm, Monday - Friday You can expect to hear back from us within 24 hours on business days and the following business day over the weekend and holidays. Available session times vary depending on therapist schedule. Evening and weekend times may be options depending on availability. In terms of what to expect regarding therapy session frequency or scheduling regularity, this will depend on your specific situation and preference. Some clients prefer a regular day and time week to week. While others prefer to schedule more flexibly. Either can work depending on availability.

We currently offer services in Oregon and Washington. If you live in a different state, you are welcome to request a local referral. We are happy to help if we can.

We do not offer services to individuals 17 years old or younger. If you would like referrals for individual or family therapy for children and/or teens, please let us know. We are happy to help if we can.

Payment for sessions is due at the time of services. Payment can be made by credit card, debit card, Care Credit, or HSA/FSA. HFT clients are required to keep a credit or debit card on file per our cancellation/rescheduling policy. If you have out-of-network insurance benefits and would like to submit statements for direct reimbursement, HFT can provide you with the appropriate documentation for your insurance. We ask all clients with Medicare plans receiving services at HFT to sign our "Medicare Private Pay Agreement" acknowledging and agreeing to client full financial responsibility for services. The first step is to set up a free consultation (video or phone) to discuss your needs and address any questions. If meeting by video, you will receive instructions on how to access our video session and a video link for the meeting. After an initial conversation, if we decide that working together seems like a potential fit, we will schedule our first session. After scheduling, you will receive a link to your client portal where you can complete initial paperwork before our meeting. You are welcome to reach out at any point for clarification or with questions.

Sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled up to 24 hours before a scheduled meeting time. Sessions NOT cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours before a scheduled meeting time will incur the full session fee. Clients may communicate changes to scheduled sessions via phone, text, email or through the online booking system. The minimum-24-hour-notice policy is not limited to business days/hours. All rescheduling/cancellation requests are honored at the time they were initially sent. Requests sent outside of business hours (evenings, weekends, holidays) are acceptable.

The duration of therapy services typically depends on the client and their reasons for coming to therapy. Some clients find benefit after only a few sessions, while others may continue for several weeks, months or years. This is completely up to each client and would be something we would discuss together and continue checking in about. Clients are always free to end therapy at any point.

Effective therapy always entails a good working relationship between client and therapist. This is sometimes referred to as therapeutic fit. A good therapeutic relationship is characterized as having: effective communication, trust, comfort, rapport, empathy, shared goals, and aligned values. Additionally, it is one where the client aligns with the therapist's approach and style. Fit is incredibly important and if at any point you find that it isn't feeling right, your therapist will make appropriate referrals to help you find a another therapist.

Clients are always free to stop therapy at any time for any reason. Pausing therapy can also be an option when a client needs or wants to take some time off and then start up regular sessions again at a future date. Ending or pausing therapy is a very simple conversation with your therapist and can be discussed at anytime. Referrals for other therapists or providers can be provided.

A Good Faith Estimate (GFE) is a reasonable estimate of the total cost of services. As part of the federal "No Surprises Act" (2022), therapists are required to provide clients who are not using health insurance with a "Good Faith Estimate." Since the duration of therapy services is up to the client, it is difficult to provide an exact estimate of total cost at the outset of therapy. For this reason, the "Good Faith Estimate" typically includes the cost of a therapy session multiplied by weeks in a year to provide a reasonable estimation of what to expect for a year of services. A "Good Faith Estimate" is not a bill or a financial obligation. It is intended to inform clients - not using insurance - what to expect financially at the outset of therapy. As a client, your privacy is protected in several ways. Therapist-client privilege is a legal right that protects a client/patient's confidential information from being disclosed by their therapist. Your personal data is protected by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which, despite the name, applies to both clients using insurance and not using insurance to pay for therapy. (Learn more about HIPAA here). There are extenuating circumstances to this confidentiality that we will discuss in detail at the start of therapy and as needed. If you are billing insurance, your insurance provider may request information regarding your treatment. HFT does not use artificial intelligence (AI) dictation or note taking software.

There are a few situations when the privileges of client confidentiality are limited under State and Federal law. These situations and exceptions are: If you pose a danger to yourself or others In the case of abuse or neglect of a child, an elder, or a vulnerable adult A court order or subpoena of records Your claim/defense in a legal situation related to our services The limits to client-therapist confidentiality will be reviewed with clients before the start of therapy.
